About the Immunity Assessment Test
An important tool to safeguard your health
Antibodies are protective proteins made by the immune system in response to natural infection or vaccination. Neutralizing antibodies (NAbs) are the subset of antibodies that block entry of a virus into the cell, preventing infection. Recent studies have shown that there is a strong correlation between NAb levels and protection against symptomatic SARS-CoV-2 infection.1,2
Unfortunately, not everyone is able to generate a sufficient antibody response, especially individuals that are immunocompromised or on immune-suppressive therapy. Measuring the levels of NAbs in an individual can help assess the risk of future infection.3
DxTerity’s Immunity Assessment Test measures neutralizing antibody levels in 5 to 10 drops of fingerstick blood collected using our DxCollect MicroCollection Device. Testing is performed in our CLIA and CAP accredited testing laboratory.
DxTerity’s Immunity Assessment Test offers testing solutions for individuals and corporations to identify those at risk for infection and enable informed decisions to maintain health.

FAQ’s
What is SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19)? |
|
SARS-CoV-2 is the name of the virus that causes COVID-19. Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a disease caused by the virus SARS-CoV-2, which is also called coronavirus. COVID-19 spreads to people though droplets or small particles that leave an infected person’s body when they cough, sneeze, sing, talk, or breathe. COVID-19 causes many different symptoms. Some may have a flu-like illness with fever, cough, diarrhea, and even loss of smell. Other people may get very sick and have severe disease involving the lungs and other parts of the body. People with severe COVID-19 may need to be hospitalized. |
Is this a one-time test? |
|
While you can take this test one time to gain insight on your current antibody level to COVID-19, the CDC, FDA and vaccine manufactures have all acknowledged that it is not known how long protective antibodies to COVID-19 last. Taking DxTerity’s immunity assessment test multiple times throughout the year can give you a better understanding of how your NAb levels change following a booster shot or how your NAb levels decrease over time. |
Do I have to go to a laboratory patient service center to get my blood drawn? |
|
No, DxTerity’s Microcollection Device replaces a traditional blood draw and only requires 5 to 10 drops of blood via a quick fingerstick collection. |
What are COVID-19 neutralizing antibodies? |
|
Neutralizing antibodies are an important specific defense against COVID-19. Neutralizing antibodies bind to the COVID-19 virus in a manner that blocks infection. After a COVID-19 infection, it takes a couple of weeks for infected and vaccinated individuals to produce effective neutralizing antibodies, but these can persist for months or longer to guard against future infection. |
How do I know if I have COVID-19? |
|
The most accurate way to assess if you have a COVID-19 infection is through PCR testing, the gold standard in virology. The immunity assessment test should not be used to diagnose active infection. A COVID-19 PCR test is the best way to diagnose active infection. At DxTerity, we offer a highly accurate COVID-19 PCR test that utilizes a non-invasive saliva sample. You can find out more about DxTerity’s COVID-19 at-home test by following this link – DxTerity COVID-19 PCR Test. |
If I previously had COVID-19, can I get it again? |
|
Yes, there have been widely reported cases of people contracting the virus more than once, with some reinfections resulting in death. This occurs in a small number of afflicted individuals, but caution should be taken. |
If I have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, am I immune? |
|
Your level of protection following vaccination will vary based on a number of factors like sex, obesity, autoimmune disease, genetics, age, nutrition, environmental factors and medications that can impair immune response.3 We are also seeing that new variants of the COVID-19 can result in reduced levels of protection. Experts still don’t know how long protection lasts for those who are vaccinated or those who have recovered from prior COVID-19 infection.7 Our immunity assessment test will help you better understand your current risk. |
How will my information be protected? |
|
DxTerity is a California CLIA licensed, CAP accredited clinical laboratory that adheres to all state and federal laws regarding the protection of personal health information (PHI). |
What if my immunity assessment test results suggest that no neutralizing antibodies were detected? |
|
Antibodies take 1 – 3 weeks to fully develop to a measurable level in a person who has been infected with COVID-19 or post-vaccination. If the test did not detect neutralizing antibodies in your sample, it indicates that you, at the time of testing, did not have a measurable level in your blood. This could be because you have not had any exposure to COVID-19, you have not been vaccinated, not enough or too much time has passed since vaccination or infection, or your immune response was suboptimal due to a variety of risk factors. |
If my immunity assessment test results in a high level of neutralizing antibodies detected, does that mean I am totally safe from contracting COVID-19? |
|
Individuals with high levels of neutralizing antibodies are at significantly decreased risk for infection, but there is still a risk of infection. There also continues to be several new COVID-19 variants (mutations) that reduce the efficacy of protection acquired by previous infection or vaccination. |
Who can benefit from an immunity assessment test? |
